What is the prophetic gift of perception?

Prophetic Gift of Perception

The prophetic gift of perception is the ability to see, hear or become aware of something through the senses.

It is a knowledge, grasp, or understanding. It’s a mental impression. An inner knowing that comes from a thought, a notion, an insight or hunch or from a vision, intuition, impression or feeling.

In one’s prophetic calling one receives revelation and interpretation.

Operating through your spiritual sense of perception one can experience an inner knowing of the past, present or future.

One can even know how the event or situation affected the person, a group of people, the environment or area.

You can receive this knowledge when you operate in the prophetic gift of perception. You quickly grasp the total concept or idea.

When you walk into a room, place or situation you are able to see with God’s eyes, hear what God is saying and feel what God is feeling.

Being open, God speaks to us in many ways. Some of us are very sensitive and we sense the environment, what is happening in our country, area or to the people around us.

What can you sense through perception?

We can even pick up peoples’ anxiety or their emotional state through our perception.

Jesus sensed what the church leaders around him were thinking. This illustrates that when sensing, one can know what others are up to, thinking about or questioning?

Perception can come in form of a thought or hunch. It is like an imprint on your mind. You are like a printing press, you receive impressions from various sources and you decode, interpret and relay the message.

We see through a cloudy veil, so at times we might be a bit off, yet through practice and use of this gift you can see more clearly and flow with ease.

Through your impression, you might discern if something good or evil. Your impression may come from another realm or dimension or time.

Why using perception?

God who is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient, can imprint in us through a vision or thought, word of knowledge, an impression, or sense a multitude of information.

Our goal is to learn to be open to hear and see Our Father’s message to His people and the world around us. To be messengers of His love, mercy, and grace.

Another way it can be described is as a spiritual download, that one receives and which we learn how to unpack it and interpret the message.

How we interpret something can be different than someone else. God speaks to us individually and each one of us is unique, with unique ways of seeing and hearing things.

We are God’s children and God’s instrument here on earth and in the heavenlies.

Through the prophetic gift of perception you can:

  • Know if a part of a person’s armor is missing or stolen.
  • If a curse is operating.
  • What is causing a lack of breakthrough?
  • What realms, gods, places one is being held captive.

Through discernment, one perceives if the source of what one is perceiving is from God, man or demonic.

One can perceive the enemy at work and know God’s intended outcome.

Some Scripture Verses on Senses and Spiritual Gifts:Ministering to God’s People

Hebrews 5:14 says, 14 But solid food is for full-grown men, for those whose senses and mental faculties are trained by practice to discriminate and distinguish between what is morally good and noble and what is evil and contrary either to divine or human law. (AMPC)” So we are to train our senses.

1 Corinthians 12:10 says that discernment is a spiritual gift but through practice and use, the gift will develop. Hebrews 5:14 clearly says we are to practice, in another word, to exercise our senses to distinguish between good and evil. We have 5 physical senses of touch, hearing, smell, sight, and taste. We have the corresponding spiritual ones.

Smelling sulfur or rotting garbage tells me the demonic is at work trying to affect my life. Seeing a dead mouse or some cook beans in my walkway tells me witchcraft is trying to cause some havoc.

Audibly we can hear the good or demonic. We can hear angels singing, heavenly sounds or the demonic talk, laugh or mockery.

The bible is full of examples.

God’s people can see into the spirit world. Good or evil can appear in visions, so having the gift of discernment is essential.

God and evil can be revealed by touch. Scripture shows us an angel striking Peter to wake him up. Acts 12:7 I have experienced this many times especially when God wants me to pray.

You could sense darts being sent by the enemy.  Sensing darts could mean you don’t have your armor on or that part of your armor has been stolen.

Regarding taste, you can experience sweet or soar, and I am sure other taste too.

We should walk in insight Pro. 6:9, being a channel of God’s love and mercy.
